The Metropolitan golf course has remained the jewel of central Cape Town since its creation in 1895. Recognised as one of the finest 9-hole courses on the continent, the MET (as it is affectionally known by its members and visitors) was commissioned by the City of Cape Town and rebuilt in 2010 by local Golf Course Architect, Mark Müller. The course belies the 9 hole status. With long and or separate tees, together with 14 world class greens, it plays very much like an 18-hole layout. Bent Grass greens and Kikuyu fairways line this parkland designed ground. We invite you to join us for a spectacular round of golf!
World Class Greens
Metropolitan’s greens were seeded with a hardy version of bentgrass when the golf course was rebuilt in 2008. This allows them to run at a consistent stimp roll of between 10 and 10.5 throughout the year. The true roll you get at The Met is by many people’s standard the best in the Western Cape, and that’s why so many tour professionals and great golfers alike love the challenge of our greens.
They truly are 5-star!
